The story
This matters.
A central understanding and ethos at the Huon Women’s Health Collective is that women’s well being is central, not only to a thriving individual - but thriving communities. We are the quiet back bone of rural life and our health and well being matters.
And, we all need support.
Rural life can be isolating and most of us have a story about how we couldn’t access the services we needed at one time or another. Wait lists are too long, travel is too far, or cost is too much. Not to mention finding the time to put ourselves first in busy modern life.
As a collective, we are dedicated to finding ways to improve access to the health information and safe gathering spaces we all deserve.
Health doesn't just begin and end in a GP's office. We are building a culture of knowledge and connection.
You spoke and we listened.
After our 2025 Women’s Wellness Festival we asked you what you wanted more of. Through surveys and casual community consultation we resoundingly heard that the women of the Huon want to learn more about their bodies and have access to this information - which is usually in the hands of private holistic practitioners - for free.
So, we’re dedicating this 12 month program to free sessions that will collect more data and solidify our ongoing vision for women to thrive.
Knowledge is power.
Much like the literacy of reading and writing, Health literacy is exactly what it sounds like - it’s about improving your understanding of how your body works and feeling more empowered for it. Better health literacy leads to more informed choices and better self advocacy when it comes to your health.
Beyond this, we teach in ways that are beyond book learning. We foster spaces to honour your experience, deepen your sense of self-knowing and celebrate you.
Healthy communities begin with healthy women at the helm.
